On Sunday 15th October 2017 the Tulla Utd U12s travelled to Lisdoonvarna to take on Burren Utd U12s in the Plate Final. While the surface of the pitch was soft underfoot due to recent rain, the weather conditions were dry with just a slight breeze.

Tulla Utd started at a blistering pace and went a goal up within the first 5 minutes after some nice build up play on the left wing. The ball was crossed into the box and was well finished to the net by Cathal McNamara. Tulla Utd continued to dominate and were further rewarded after 10 minutes, when a similar build up to the first goal was calmly converted by Aidan Keating. Tulla Utd kept up the pressure on Burren Utd. After 15 minutes Isaac O'Sullivan picked up the ball in midfield, beat a couple of players and sent a 30 yard shot into the top right corner of the net.

After 25 minutes, a rare Burren Utd attack resulted in what can only be described as a "soft" penalty, was awarded after the ball bounced in the box and brushed off Dillon Gunning's arm. The resulting spot kick was well converted in the bottom left corner of Simon Kilker's goal.

Tulla Utd made two changes at half time bringing in Michael Dinan for Cathal McNamara and Aidan Mulvey for Dan Burke. Burren Utd upped their game in the second half and began to cause Tulla Utd's back four of Eoin Clarke, Dillon Gunning, Adam McNamara and Stephen Grady a few more problems. Fortunately for Tulla Utd they were well able to deal with anything that Burren Utd were able to throw at them. On the odd occasion that Burren Utd managed to get a shot on target, Simon Kilker in goal was on hand to prevent them from adding to their tally. In a very open second half both teams had chances to score. The only second half goal came after 50 minutes from James Wallace, who cut in from the right wing and finished superbly with his left foot into the top left corner.

Tulla Utd made further changes in the second half bringing on Oscar Kinsella for Eoin Clarke, Cian McNamara for Stephen Grady and Dylan Bebbington for Rian McMahon. Tulla Utd were more than worthy 4-1 winners of the U12 Plate Final 2017. They played some lovely soccer, playing out from the back and producing some excellent passages of play throughout. After the match Tulla Utd Captain Adam McNamara accepted the Plate from the Clare league and thanked Burren Utd for a good sporting game. He also thanked Tulla Utd's coaches, players and parents.
